Darrell Davison - The Sampson Orchestra of Cambridge

Darrell Davison

—— Conductor

From the moment Darrell Davison steps onto the podium, there’s an unmistakable energy in the air — the excitement of a musician who lives and breathes orchestral music. Appointed Musical Director in 1987, Darrell brings a rare blend of technical mastery, expressive insight and infectious enthusiasm to every rehearsal and concert. His leadership has shaped the orchestra’s sound and spirit for over three decades. Learn More.

Drawing on lots of folk tunes from north of the border, this is a powerful piece packed with ear-worming tunes and mega-dramatic moments especially in the final, big brassy movement.

The Sampson Orchestra consistently delivers performances of the highest quality, blending passion with precision to bring classical repertoire vividly to life.

Sampson Orchestra’s reputation for featuring internationally acclaimed soloists like Tasmin Little and Piers Lane makes every concert an event to remember.
